Asturias Paraíso Natural Film Commission is a non-profit initiative created in 2016 and managed by the Sociedad Pública de Gestión y Promoción Turística y Cultural del Principado de Asturias SAU, an entity that answers to the Consejería de Cultura, Política Llingüística y Turismo del Gobierno del Principado de Asturias (Regional Ministry of Culture, Language Policy and Tourism of the Government of the Principality of Asturias). The Film Commission, based in Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura (Gijón/Xixón), is the only public initiative of this kind in force in the Principality of Asturias and is also a member of the Spain Film Commission.

WHAT WE OFFER

Asturias Paraíso Natural Film Commission provides interested parties with all the information and advice required for the development of film projects in the region. Its main duties are:

  • Production support and general facilitation of the filming.
  • Advice on public lines of aid and sponsorship.
  • Search and management of locations. *
  • Intermediation with public and private institutions.
  • Guidance and support in the management of filming and recording permits.
  • Information on local audiovisual and service providers and other logistical aspects.
  • Promotional and media support.
  • Promotional actions at industry events and markets.
  • Other complementary services.

*Asturias Paraíso Natural Film Commission will not participate in any way in the private negotiation of terms –whether or not they include economic considerations– established between third parties, either production companies and/or audiovisual professionals with public and/or private entities or owners of sites considered as filming locations. 

WHAT WE ASK FOR

In order for the Asturias Paraíso Natural Film Commission to manage requests for assistance, production companies or professionals must provide all the required information for the subsequent procedures to be carried out: tax and contact details, details of the request, letters of support, current filming insurance, etc.

The production companies or professionals applying for support must inform in a timely manner about the progress, changes or updates of the project in order to avoid management conflicts or duplication with institutions and individuals and/or legal entities participating in the Film Commission's management.  

Although the services provided by the Asturias Paraíso Natural Film Commission are free of charge, production companies and/or professionals are asked to provide a number of considerations consisting of audiovisual materials of several kinds, as well as filming data, which facilitate the task of the Film Commission as a management tool and help to monitor the industry in the region, as well as to develop specific initiatives to meet needs or make improvements.

All possible territorial actions linked to communication and public dissemination of aspects related to the project, its production, filming or première will be agreed by both parties, always respecting the confidentiality of the projects in each phase, and according to the global communication strategy.
Possible communication actions to be undertaken when agreed by all parties:

  • Media visit to filming.
  • Press conference with the presence of representative(s) of the production company, member(s) of the artistic team of the production, authority(ies) of the participating towns and representative(s) of the Film Commission.
  • Joint press release.

Data requested at the end of filming (according to the form provided by Asturias Paraíso Natural Film Commission):

  • Detailed information on local (audiovisual and service) providers contracted in the area.
  • Breakdown of expenditure in the region in order to monitor the economic impact of audiovisual productions in Asturias.

Transfer of materials with authorisation for non-commercial use –only for archival and/or promotional purposes for the support of Asturias Paraíso Natural Film Commission–, prior to the première:

  • Between 10 and 20 photographs of the filming (making of) in the Principality of Asturias where the different locations can be identified.
  • Between 10 and 20 stills of the production.
  • Video clips of the scenes shot on location in our territory.
  • Poster, dossier, trailer, video clips and any other promotional material.

Mentions as of the release date:

  • Inclusion of Asturias Paraíso Natural Film Commission in the credits or acknowledgements, either by written mention or insertion of a logo, at the discretion of the production company.

Similarly, the production companies or professional applicants, on the basis of their needs, undertake that, in a situation of economic and technical equality, they will preferably promote the contracting of professionals and companies based in Asturias.
